How to Cook Spaghetti Bolognese

Spaghetti Bolognese is a classic dish that is delicious to eat, and at the same time, it is very easy to make. To make a good Bolognese sauce, it needs to be cooked slowly over low heat, allowing the flavours to develop and meld together. Below is a recipe for spaghetti Bolognese that can serve 4 to 6 people:

Spaghetti Bolognese Cooking Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 minced cloves of garlic
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 4 diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Spaghetti Bolognese Cooking Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of water. The measurement of the water should be 10 times the spaghetti. Bring the water to the boiling point and add the spaghetti and cook for 12 minutes. Drain the water and set it aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until softened. You can cook it for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook it until browned. You have to break any large chunks with a spoon or fork.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes, broth, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper and stir them properly. Bring down the temperature of the mixture to a simmering heat and reduce the heat to low.
  6. Cover the pan and let the sauce simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally until it has thickened and the flavours have melded together.
  7. While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.
  8. Once the sauce is ready, taste it and adjust the seasoning as necessary. Serve the sauce over the spaghetti and top with grated Parmesan cheese.

This dish can be cooked using different kinds of meat, like lamb, or even using mushrooms or zucchini. You can also add milk or cream to make the sauce richer and more velvety.

It is very important to cook the sauce on low heat and let it simmer for at least an hour so that the flavours can meld together. This melding will make the sauce truly delicious.
